Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (which also serve as ToonMate's Terms & Conditions — we keep the two combined in one document rather than two near-identical ones, so there is only ever one real source of truth) govern your use of ToonMate, a product built by Meridian.
Last updated: 18 September 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account, accessing, or using ToonMate in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and by our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Acceptable Use Policy, each incorporated here by reference. If you are using ToonMate on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have the authority to bind that organization to these terms.
2. Eligibility & accounts
You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to create a ToonMate account for yourself. ToonMate separately offers a supervised Young Creatorsexperience for younger users, created and managed under a parent or guardian's own account, with every generated image drafted from already-approved, adult-reviewed text and steered toward child-appropriate imagery before an adult approves it for real generation. A parent or guardian is responsible for all activity under their account, including any Young Creators content created within it.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
3. What ToonMate provides
ToonMate turns a written idea into a finished, narrated animated video — including AI-generated characters and images, AI voice narration (including real code-switching across several Nigerian, other African, and world languages), music and sound effects, and a full video assembly and editing pipeline. It also provides a marketplace for buying and selling characters, prompt packs, and courses; creative competitions with real cash prizes; advertising tools; course and cohort management; and a number of engagement features described below.
Generation quality, exact turnaround time, and the specific AI providers used to serve a given request can vary — ToonMate automatically routes between several real providers for reliability, and does not guarantee a specific provider will handle any individual request.
4. Plans, billing & wallets
ToonMate is offered on several plans (including a free tier), each with a real monthly quota. Usage beyond your included quota may draw from your wallet balance, depending on your plan and any wallet-overage setting you have enabled. Some features are billed per-use through a video pass instead of a subscription. Wallet funds, once spent on a real generation, are generally non-refundable except where required by law or where we determine in good faith that a genuine service error caused the charge.
We may change plan pricing or included quotas going forward; changes will not retroactively alter amounts already billed to you.
The One Time planis a single, one-time payment (not a recurring monthly charge) that grants ongoing access to core generation services (text-to-video, text-to-image, audio generation, music generation, and character/asset generation) at a real discount, in exchange for real, disclosed trade-offs: every charge while you're on it carries an additional surcharge on top of the normal cost; the plan is only available to join during its own recurring monthly window; it does not include BYOK, competitions, the Story Roll Game, or other promotional/free-tier perks other plans may enjoy; and opting out (available anytime) carries a small exit fee unless you leave within the first day of opting in. Opting back in after opting out is a fresh one-time payment, not automatic re-entry — "one time" describes the charge, not a lifetime cap on how many times you may join.
5. Your content & ownership
As between you and ToonMate, you own the prompts, scripts, and other original material you input, and you own the finished videos, images, and audio ToonMate generates for you from that input, subject to your plan's terms and to any rights that a third-party AI provider's own terms require us to pass through. You grant ToonMate a license to host, store, process, and (only where you have explicitly opted in, such as the public showcase) display your content in order to provide the service.
Every finished video can carry a signed, verifiable provenance record showing what generated it — this exists to give you and your audience a genuine way to demonstrate authorship, not to restrict how you use your own finished work.
6. Photos, avatars & consent
Uploading a real photo of yourself or another real person to generate an avatar or talking avatar requires your explicit, real consent, recorded at the time of upload. You confirm that you have the right to upload any photo you provide, and — where the photo is of someone other than yourself — that you have that person's genuine permission to use their likeness this way. You can withdraw consent and delete a stored source photo at any time; doing so is itself recorded as a real event in the same consent record as the original upload.
7. Marketplace & seller terms
ToonMate's marketplace lets you list characters, prompt packs, curriculum packs, and other eligible items for sale to other tenants, and earn a share of each sale (ToonMate retains a platform fee, disclosed at the time of listing). You are responsible for having the rights to sell whatever you list. A buyer's purchase of a curriculum pack, character, or template grants them their own independent copy or license to use and adapt it as described at the time of purchase — it does not transfer your own underlying rights to them beyond that. Public storefronts, when you turn yours on, are visible to anyone with the link.
8. Competitions & prizes
ToonMate periodically runs creative competitions with real, escrowed prize pools. Tenants on eligible plans may also propose and fund their own competitions, or sponsor an existing one for a public sponsor credit. Entering a competition means agreeing to that competition's own published rules, judging criteria, and submission deadline. Winning entries are paid the real, disclosed prize amount; a proposed competition that is rejected has its escrowed funds returned to the proposing tenant's wallet.
9. Story Roll Game
The Story Roll Game is an optional, opt-in creative prompt: rolling a die or spinning a wheel assigns you a real number (1–4) of story ideas to turn into animated videos, one after another, before you can roll again. Story prompts are editorial suggestions, not a guarantee of any particular outcome — phrases like "may get viral" describe a real possibility, not a promise, and ToonMate makes no representation about views, engagement, or earnings any video you create will actually achieve. Prompts are written by ToonMate's team, AI-drafted and reviewed by ToonMate's team before publishing, or — where a platform admin has specifically enabled it — AI-drafted and published automatically with no human review beforehand; whichever way a given prompt was produced, the same real-possibility disclaimer above applies equally. "Sharing" a finished story within the game is a self-reported action on your part; ToonMate does not post on your behalf to any social platform. You can opt out of the game's daily reminder email at any time from your Story Roll Game settings.
10. Acceptable use
Your use of ToonMate is also governed by our Acceptable Use Policy, which describes prohibited content and conduct in more detail, including a strict, zero-tolerance policy on any content sexualizing or endangering minors.
11. Bring-your-own-key (BYOK)
Enterprise tenants with BYOK enabled may connect their own API keys for certain AI providers. When your own key genuinely serves a request, ToonMate does not separately bill your quota or wallet for that request's underlying generation cost — you are billed directly by that provider, under your own agreement with them, for that usage.
12. Institutional & white-label billing
Institutional customers are billed under a separately negotiated, seat-based arrangement rather than self-serve subscription billing; invoices reflect the terms agreed with your ToonMate account contact. White-label agencies reselling ToonMate-made work under their own branding are responsible for their own agreements with their end clients — ToonMate's relationship remains with the agency as the paying tenant.
13. Suspension & termination
You may stop using ToonMate and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, our Acceptable Use Policy, or applicable law, or that we determine in good faith poses a genuine risk to the platform or other users — generally with notice where practical, and immediately where the risk is severe (for example, content endangering a minor).
14. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
ToonMate is provided "as is." AI-generated content can be imperfect, unpredictable, or occasionally inaccurate, and we do not guarantee any specific generation result, uptime, or business outcome (including from the Story Roll Game or any competition). To the fullest extent permitted by law, ToonMate and Meridian are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above, and — where a change is significant — we will make reasonable efforts to notify active tenants directly. Continuing to use ToonMate after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
16. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent through the in-app Support page if you have an active account, or via our public Contact pageif you don't.
